Alright,
reflections on the IPW lessons.
Week 1, the teacher did not come as she went for the orientation camp.
Week 2, teacher came and we started looking for topics to choose from.
So, we chose number 5. Weather and electricity consumption.
Here are some of my ideas and findings,
Original: Usually in hot weather, the use of air-conditioning units increases.
In a hot weather,
- Use more fan
- People tends to stay at home to avoid hot weather, which lead to television/computer, etc
- Others i can't think of..
I also found out that global warming might actually lead to global cooling,
which means that if global warming continues, the Earth might start the second ice age.
This is a short quote or summary of why it is so..
"
If you look at a globe, you'll see that the latitude of much of Europe and Scandinavia is the same as that of Alaska and permafrost-locked parts of northern Canada and central Siberia. Yet Europe has a climate more similar to that of the United States than northern Canada or Siberia. Why?
It turns out that our warmth is the result of ocean currents that bring warm surface water up from the equator into northern regions that would otherwise be so cold that even in summer they'd be covered with ice. The current of greatest concern is often referred to as "The Great Conveyor Belt," which includes what we call the Gulf Stream.
The Great Conveyor Belt, while shaped by the Coriolis effect of the Earth's rotation, is mostly driven by the greater force created by differences in water temperatures and salinity. The North Atlantic Ocean is saltier and colder than the Pacific, the result of it being so much smaller and locked into place by the Northern and Southern American Hemispheres on the west and Europe and Africa on the east.

So... its actually saying that warmer water will flow to the north and will cool the warm water into ice. Something to do with the salt contents and moon or sun, i guess. Warmer sea will lead to more hurricanes, twisters.. etc
Many evidence supports this, like first time in 30 years seen snow in Las Vegas..
So i if the Earth is getting warmer(cooler), more electricity consumption human will use.
So,
In the cold weather, (in other countries)
- More gas used for fire to keep warm (lets say its snowing)
- People tends to stay at home to avoid the chilling weather, etc etc
- If heavy snow, the sky should be dark, which means lights on in the day
- And many more.. etc
In conclusion,
Global warming(warm weather) leads to cold weather(or maybe ice age).
And
Warming weather and cold weather leads to a increase in electricity.
People, add on to the hot and cold list in your posts or give more ideas!
That's all, folks!
Signing off,
Tay Zhi Ming (32)
